Devil Fruit are a special and rare kind of fruit found all over the four Blues. They grant anything that consumes them to gain a supernatural ability, like controlling naturally occurring substances or turning into animals. Thanks to the technological advances of Dr. Vegapunk, inanimate objects can also consume Devil Fruit.

According to legend, the fruits contain the power of the Sea Devil, who was an enemy of the sea. So, users of Devil Fruit, depending on their submersion in water, the user can go from feeling weakness and inability to use their powers to paralyzing completely. Sea Prism Stone carries the same effects of full submersion, upon direct contact. Users cannot eat two Devil Fruit, as the turmoil one brings to a body. Consuming more than one kills the user from the inside.

Only one of a specific natural fruit grows, and there cannot be two of a natural Devil Fruit. In order for another of the same to grow, the user of the current needs to pass away in any manner. Artificial fruits can be duplicated. It is possible to transfer abilities from one person to another through partial to full consumption of a living user.

Logia

Logia-type Devil Fruit are the rarest kind of Devil Fruit. Users of Logia fruits can both manipulate and turn into natural elements.

Zoan

Zoan-type Devil Fruit are fruits that give their users the power to turn into animals, or a blend between their original and animal form, known as a man-beast form. Most can only use these three forms, unless given some sort of artificial enhancement. Often, different types of Zoan fruits with animals that can be classified into a group are dubbed "models", though their abilities don't change and are still considered different.

Awakening is a rare ability among Devil Fruit users that requires one’s ability to pushed to its highest. Upon achieving a Devil Fruit awakening, its ability surpasses that of a fruit of its category.
